Abstract
This book review analyzes Josef Lhevinne’s Basic Principles in Pianoforte Playing and Josef Hofmann’s Piano Playing with Piano Questions Answered. These 2 books contain fundamental knowledge in piano playing, fingering technique, tone producing, pedaling, and teaching approach. Lhevinne mostly focused on various tone producing and hearing improvement in order to enhance the playing quality. Hofmann divided his book into 2 sections: basic knowledge and questions and answers. Those questions and answers have been collected from journal and categorized in relevant topics. Hofmann’s answers are detailed and practical.
