Abstract

Memorization is an interesting issue for a pianist who plans to perform in a live situation. To many, this is a result of lack of confidence. A considerable number of researches and experiments, however, conclude that the problem could be solved by prac-ticing correctly. In other word, a well-developed, appropriate practice can increase self-confidence. Another common problem faced by a pianist who is preparing a solo recital concerns a long period of practice prior to the performance. This can be shortened by developing alternative strategies such as analyzing the music and practicing in separate and shorter sections. Additionally, a pianist is advised to treat each practice as a real perfor-mance. This way a recital will be just another practice session.
