The Evaluation Of Local Curriculum : A Case Study Of Chum Chon Ban Raway School, Ubon Ratchathani Primary Educational Service Area Office 3

Abstract

The research aimed to construct indicators and evaluation criteria and to evaluate the local curriculum of Chumchon Ban Raway School under the jurisdiction of Ubon Ratchathani’s primary educational service area office 3  in light of context, preliminary factors, process and output.  The research methodology was divided into two stages: in stage one, the indicators and the evaluation criteria for a, who evaluated congruence between the issues and indicators and the suitability of the criteria. There were seven educational experts, administrators and educational supervisors involved in the study.  The research tool was a questionnaire. Congruence between the evaluation aspects and indicators averaged 3.51.  A standard deviation was less than 1.00. The criteria used for a congruence between the indicators and the evaluation was set at 60 % upwards.  Stage two was concerned with an evaluation of a local curriculum of Chumchon Ban Raway School. The informants were school administrators, teachers, the education commission, students, students’ parents and local wisdom personnel totaling 152.  The tools used in the data collection were the questionnaire and the interview. Statistics used were percentage, mean and standard deviation.

The evaluation findings were as follows:

1. Concerning a construction of indicators and evaluation criteria of the local wisdom of Chumchon Ban Raway School, 124 indicators and 124 evaluation criteria were obtained: (1) the context had 38 indicators and 38 criteria, (2) the primary factor had 28 indicators and 28 criteria, (3) the process had 28 indicators and 28 criteria, (4) the output had 30 indicators and 30 criteria.
2. The results of the local curriculum evaluation used at Chumchon Ban Raway School were as follows:

Context  With the general conditions of Chumchon Ban Raway School and the community, the readiness of administrators, teachers, and the committee, objectives/ quality of the students, framework and the substance of learning well evaluated, they were found to be highly suitable.

Preliminary research Based on the evaluation, it was found that readiness and potential of the administrators, teachers, local wisdom personnel, instructional media, learning sources and budget were overall moderately suitable.

Process Administration of a local curriculum, communal participation, learning activities, measurement and evaluation were overall highly suitable.

Output Learning achievement, learners’ faculty, desirable characteristics, quality, and the outcome of the curriculum-based operation were overall highly suitable.
