Factors Related to Behaviors Illustrating the Love of Being Thai of Prathom Suksa 6 Students at Schools under the Jurisdiction of Yasothon Primary Educational Service Area Office 1

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate factors influencing the behaviors showing the love of being Thai of Prathom Suksa 6 students. The sample group consisted of 347 Prathom Suksa 6 students at schools under the jurisdiction of Yasothon of Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, selected by means of the stratified random sampling. The research instruments included a rating scale questionnaire to assess nine factors believed to influence the behaviors illustrating the love of being Thai: the love of being Thai, the perception of the desirable model of being Thai, the family loving and supporting in child rearing, the reasoning type of child rearing, mass media, the internal local of control, the future–orientation, the need for achievement, and the attitude toward the behaviors demonstrating the love of being Thai. The reliability of all the nine parts of the questionnaire ranged from 0.815 to 0.921. The multiple regression analysis was used in the data analysis.

The research findings were as follows: The findings revealed that eight variables - the perception of the desirable model of being Thai, the family loving and supporting in child rearing, the reasoning type of child rearing, mass media, the internal local of control, the future–orientation, the need for achievement, and the attitude toward the behaviors demonstrating the love of being – were found to strongly influence the behaviors of the love of being Thai, which altogether could be used to predict the behaviors with the accuracy rate of 74.90 percent and the standard deviation of 0.308. Five factors found to be good predictors were the perception of the desirable model of being Thai, mass media, the internal local of control, the need for achievement, and the attitude toward the behaviors demonstrating the love of being Thai.
