The Relationships between perceptions of competence, Attitudes, and Satisfaction in Nursing Practice Affecting the Practice skills of Second- Year Nursing Students.

Abstract

            The purpose of this research were to study the level of nursing students self-perceived competency, attitude and self-satisfaction, after their hospital practicum. Further, it studied the relation between the student's self-perception of their self-efficacy, attitude and self-satisfaction and their actual, observed nursing skills, following the completion of their nursing practice in a hospital setting and used in the research were 154 second-year nursing students in the 2022 academic year.  They were students of the faculty of nursing of Ratchathani University and Udonthani Campus. A total of 154 people were all sample groups who answered the questionnaire.The research instruments were:  formats to evaluate self-faculty perception, attitudes, satisfaction and practice skills. The research was conducted from March to May, 2022.  Data were collected after the nursing practice on the patient wards were completed.

The research findings were as follows:

1. The average of the perceived competence of the subjects was at a high level. ( = 4.13, S.D= .41).
2. The average of the attitudes towards the nursing practice on the patient wards was a high level (  =4.39, S.D= .47).
3. The average of the satisfaction in the nursing practice on the wards was at a high level
   ( =4.19,S.D=.50).
4. The average of the overall nursing practice was at a high level ( =4.26, S.D= .45).
5. The relations between the perceived competence, attitudes, and satisfaction affected the nursing skills was statistically significant at the .01 level
