A Development of PQ4R technique on English Reading Comprehension Skills of Mattayomsuksa II Students at Bannakhampakhad School under Yasothon Primary Educational Service Area Office 1

The purposes of this research were to develop PQ4R teaching techniques on English reading comprehension skills., and compare of English reading comprehension skills before and after studying of students in grade 2 Ban Na Kham Pak Hat School Under the Yasothon Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, during semester 2 of the academic year 2019. Total of 11 students were selected by purposive sampling. The research model was based on Kurt Lewin's approach. The research instruments were 1) PQ4R teaching techniques plan, and 2) PQ4R skills test. The statistics used in analysis were percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The research findings were as follows:
- A Development of PQ4R technique on English Reading Comprehension Skills consisted of three spiral circles. Each circle had three steps: 1) plan, 2) action and observation, and 3) reflection. Action Cycle 1 Story (fable/short story) consists of lesson plan 1-3. Action Cycle 2 News consists of lesson plan 4-6 Action Cycle 3 Advertisement consists of lesson plan 7-9.By the end of the 3rd practice cycle, students can develop their English reading comprehension skills effectively.
- Students have an average of 84.45 of English reading comprehension skills. The results of the development revealed that all students passed the criteria 70 percent of the English comprehension skills test 100% and 11 students passed the criteria 100% according to the specified criteria. As for the comparison of the outcomes before and after the use of the model, it was found that the students had a higher learning achievement.
