THE ELEMENTS OF GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCTS AND GOVERNMENT EFFECTIVENESS AFFECTING THE GROSS NATIONAL HAPPINESS

The current article was aimed to examine the effects of Gross Domestic Products (GDP) and good governance towards the Gross National Happiness (GNH) and to propose the guidelines for promoting the Gross National Happiness. The research population comprised 133 countries/administrative regions. The data used in the research were GDP, GDP per capita, control of corruption, government effectiveness, and the Gross National Happiness. All the data were collected by the international organizations including those who have had the worldwide researching network. The researcher analyzed the data using regression analysis to examine and compare how the independent variables, namely GDP and good governance, affected the dependent variable, namely GNH.
The research results showed that the variable that could best represent the Gross National Happiness were 1) the government effectiveness, 2) GDP per capita, and 3) control of corruption.
