NEEDS ASSESSMENT IN APPLYING INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOR COLLEGE ADMINISTRATION UNDER THE LOPBURI OFFICE OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION COMMISSION

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to study the actual and expected condition in using information technology for school administration 2) to study the needs assessment in using Information technology for school administrators and 3) to compare to the needs in using information technology for school administrators, classified by gender, educational level, work experience and college type. The research samples used in this study were 279 school administrators, and teachers under the Office of Vocational Education Commission, Lop Buri Province. The samples were obtained by using Cluster Random Sampling. The research instrument was a set of rating scale questionnaires with reliability coefficient of 0.979. The statistics used for analyzed opinion PNIModified., percentage, mean, standard deviation, t–test and the one way by analysis of variance.
The research results showed that:
1. The overall actual condition of using information technology for school administration were rated at a high degree covering: 1) Resource Management (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.09, S.D. = 0.66) 2) Planning and Cooperation (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.12, S.D. = 0.66) 3) Resource Management (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.18, S.D. = 0.60) and 4) Academic Affairs (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.23, S.D. = 0.61). The overall expected condition was rated at a high degree except Academic Affairs was rated the highest covering: 1) Resource Management (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.41, S.D. = 0.48) 2) Planning and Cooperation (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.49, S.D. = 0.51) 3) Resource Management (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.41, S.D. = 0.52) and 4) Academic Affairs (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.57, S.D. = 0.70),
2. Needs assessment of using information technology for school administrators by ranking orderly Planning and Cooperation (PNImodified=0.0898), Academic Affairs (PNImodified=0.0804), Resource Management (PNImodified=0.0782) and Student Affairs Development (PNImodified=0.0550).
3. The comparison of needs assessment classified by gender, experience and school type were statistical different at .05 level.
