Abstract

This research have objective to preventing failure of external reinforcement structure with glass fiber reinforcement polymer (GFRP) plate, Which have a many layers and thickness, Cause by debonding of GFRP plate and to perform GFRP plate maximum efficiency. Preventing method by using mechanical fastener (MF) for improving bonding GFRP plate. This research has been tested by 3 RC beam. Control beam, external reinforcement beam with GFRP and external reinforcement beam with GFRP and MF. The testing method by applying load at mid span of beams. The tested result revealed installing MF can prevent debonding of GFRP and beam with MF can withstand greater bending moments compared to control beams and beams reinforced with GFRP plate by 2 and 1.2 time respectively. The result of this research can be utilized to prevent debonding failure for reinforcement structure with GFRP plate and achieves that GFRP plate can use full potential
