Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the roles, benefits, and applications of ChatGPT in supporting educational supervision in the digital era, in response to the limitations of traditional supervision approaches that often lack flexibility and require extensive resources. The objectives were to: 1) examine the roles of ChatGPT in supporting the work of educational supervisors, 2) analyze the benefits of ChatGPT in facilitating educational supervision, and 3) identify strategies for the effective application of ChatGPT. This study employed a qualitative research approach by synthesizing information through content analysis of relevant literature, research articles, and academic documents from both domestic and international sources. The findings revealed that ChatGPT plays key roles as an academic advisor, data analysis assistant, self-development tool, instructional material designer, information organizer, and idea co-developer, thereby comprehensively enhancing the performance of educational supervisors. Additionally, ChatGPT offers significant benefits, including reducing documentation workload, improving continuity in supervision, reinforcing decision-making confidence, promoting participatory supervision, expanding supervision scope, bridging knowledge gaps between generations, fostering a data-informed culture, and enhancing academic communication. The study also proposed five key areas for applying ChatGPT effectively: official document preparation, tool and instrument design, policy-oriented data analysis, learning network development, and inspirational communication. Importantly, the adoption of ChatGPT should be guided by critical planning and accompanied by professional development of educational supervisors to ensure effective, responsive, and sustainable supervision in alignment with the evolving demands of the digital education landscape.
