Abstract
This research, Development and Evaluation of the Effectiveness of an Innovative Textbook for Electrical Installation 1 Course Code 30104-2003 for the Higher Vocational Certificate Curriculum (2024), Office of the Vocational Education Commission, aims to: 1) develop a textbook for Electrical Installation 1 Course Code 30104-2003; 2) evaluate the quality of the textbook for Electrical Installation 1 Course Code 30104-2003; 3) determine the effectiveness of the textbook for Electrical Installation 1 Course Code 30104-2003; 4) compare student learning outcomes before and after using the textbook for Electrical Installation 1 Course Code 30104-2003; and 5) evaluate student satisfaction with the textbook for Electrical Installation 1 Course Code 30104-2003.
This research is divided into five stages as follows: Stage 1 : Textbook development; Stage 2 : Textbook quality evaluation; Stage 3 : Textbook effectiveness assessment; Stage 4 : Comparison of student academic achievement before and after using the textbook; Stage 5 : Student satisfaction with the textbook evaluation.
The research results, Phase 1, involved developing a textbook for the Electrical Installation 1 course code 30104-2003, divided into 11 learning units and 14 worksheets, based on the course description. Pre - tests, post-tests, and achievement tests were created to align with the learning objectives of each unit. Phase 2 found that the overall quality of the textbook had an average score at the highest level of appropriateness across all aspects ( = 4.92, S.D. = 0.21). Phase 3 showed that this learning experience significantly improved student achievement, with the post-test average being much higher than the pre-test average. Therefore, the teaching and learning process was appropriate and highly effective; the content and teaching format were aligned with the target group, and the transfer of knowledge and skills led to tangible results. Phase 4 found that the textbook's effectiveness was (E1/E2) = 81/85, exceeding the set criteria. Based on the 80/80 standard criteria, Phase 5 showed that the overall average satisfaction level across all aspects was at the highest level of satisfaction ( = 4.76, S.D. = 0.29).
