NEED FOR DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHERS’ LEARNING ASSESSMENT COMPETENCY IN SMALL SCHOOLS IN PATHUM THANI PROVINCE

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to assess and prioritize the need for developing the learning assessment competency of teachers in small schools in Pathum Thani province. A sample of 150 teachers was selected by multi-stage random sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire with a Cronbach’s alpha reliability of 0.95. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics methods including frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Its priority in terms of needs was set using the Modified Priority Needs Index (PNImodified).
The results showed that the need for developing the learning assessment competency of small-school teachers in Pathum Thani province was not considered to be at an urgent level (PNImodified = 0.19). When considering each aspect individually, it was found that the need indexes ranged from 0.11 – 0.26. The highest was for the development of assessment instruments aspect (PNImodified = 0.26), followed by the selection of assessment instrument aspect (PNImodified = 0.25), the exam administration (PNImodified = 0.20), the communication and use of the assessment results (PNImodified = 0.13), and the ethical assessment (PNImodified = 0.11).
