Development of Supplementary Exercise on Analytical Reading Skills A Case Study of Ban Don Yai School and Lamplaimat Nursery School in Buriram Province

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to develop an exercise to enhance Analytical Reading Skills for the grade 6 students from the reading tests which was divided into three levels: basic level, intermediate level and advanced level. The sample was composed of five students grade 6 level at Ban Don Yai School and 45 students at Lam Plai Mat Kindergarten School with total 50 students. The research results were as follows 1) In analysis of reading tests for reading skills at each level, each with 20 items, the results revealed that the basic reading tests with item difficulty at a moderate or rather difficult level included three items. The tests for reading skills at an intermediate level with item difficulty at the moderate level or rather difficult level included 4 items; the reading skill test with item difficulty at a high level or at moderate level or quite difficult included 15 items. The total test to be taken for the development of reading skills included 22 items. 2) The research team had brought into discussion the data analysis of item difficulty of the tests that were at moderate and quite difficult level. It was to be noted that the reading exercises for each level should be designed and created to enhance reading and analytical thinking skills in each area and be consistent and appropriate in order to enhance and develop reading and analytical thinking skills of the grade 6 students and to lead on other effective learning skills.
