Abstract
This volume of Wiwitwannasan which is the third volume of third year (September - December 2019), consists of 6 research and academic articles as follows:
Prominence, mora and rhythm in Thai is an article which analyzes Thai language through a linguistic perspective by observing the Thai pronunciation of Thai people, which found that there was prominence (comparing the accents of syllables that are close together in each syllable group), mora (units of measure for lengths of syllables). They depended on the structure of the syllable and rhythm (dividing the syllable groups into stages which will have different syllable lengths). It was an article that will give readers an insight into the analysis of language hat was nearest to our hearts but we failed to not see. This article will help you to observe way of thinking to investigate our own Thai language.
Classification of words in Thai: similarities and differences between Thai Grammar Text and Thai Reference Book, Standard Thai, Vol. 3, is an article that aimed at comparing the classification of Thai words between traditional texts, that is, the Principles of Thai language of Phraya Upakisinlapasan and the modern textbook, the Thai Reference Text, Standard Thai Language, Volume 3 . It was found that both texts showed different concepts of different word types, which teachers of Thai language of all levels should not miss.
Compound words and final consonants / -k / in Tai Khamti and Thai Phuan is an article that analyzes the Thai family language, namely, Tai Khamti language which was the language of the Tai people outside Thailand and Thai Phuan, which was the language of the people in Thailand. It focused on the analysis of compound words and the last consonant unit / -k /. The above findings provided the people interested in the Thai language with guidelines to study and compare the same family language but living in different local area for understanding people and a wider language perspective.
Development of Supplementary Exercises on Analytical Reading Skill: A Case Study of Ban Don Yai School and Lam Plai Mat Kindergarten Buriram is an article that attempts to develop analytical reading skills training for grade 6 students to attain important tools for helping primary school children to develop more critical thinking skills.
The study of learning achievement on unit in Thai and dialect, communication and collaboration of grade 5 students by using 5 step ladder learning management together with mind mapping is an article that aims at studying and developing the teaching and learning of Thai language, focusing on students using collaborative group processes to learn and to encourage students to think.
Teaching Thai as a Foreign Language: Concepts to Practice is a review of a book authored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watcharapol Wiboonyasarin. The reviewer held that this textbook was compiled to teach Thai as a foreign language in both the concepts and techniques, that is to say, the content was about the concepts of language teaching from both domestic and international viewpoint, application of teaching theory, concepts, organizing activities to improve listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, along with examples, application of technology to teaching Thai as a foreign language, such as websites, online discussions, wiki, blogs, and lesson planning for foreign learners, which the Thai language teachers for foreigners should not miss.
We hope that the 6 articles mentioned above may help expand the perspective and various ideas to readers and interested parties as the case may be , which will lead to the development of academic work that may still be beneficial to others.
