The role of Wat Sala Daeng Nuea towards the Community Lifestyle of Thai-mon Ban Saladaeng Nuea in Samkhok District, Pathumthani Province

Abstract

This article aims to 1) study the role of Wat Sala Daeng Nuea in the way of life of Thai-Mon community, Ban Saladaeng Nuea in Sam Khok district, Pathumthani province; 2) to study the relations of Wat Sala Daeng Nuea and the Thai-Mon community, Ban Saladaeng Nuea in the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. This study is a qualitative research whose data was collected from documents and Key Informants by purposive sampling method using in-depth interviews with Key-Informants and participant observation. The selected sample population consists of (1) a group of 4 Mon villagers, (2) a group of 3 Mon temple committees, (3) a group of 3 Mon monks, and (4) Wat Saladaeng Nuea, a total of 10 people.The results showed that there is a strong connection in role of Wat Sala Daeng Nuea in the way of life of Thai-Mon communities Ban Saladaeng Nuea  in the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage with focusing on (1) Role of villagers (2) Role of a temple committee (3) Role of a temple (4) Role of a monk (5) Building accessed area. From the details mentioned above, it is known that the role and use of space build up relationship and connection of religious activities together and such activities lead to the conservation and restoration of the Mon cultural heritage
