The development of the learning management Thamnong model with multimedia to promote rhyme reading skill based on critical thinking for gifted students at the upper secondary level

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) develop the learning management THAMNONG model with multimedia to promote rhyme reading skill based on critical thinking, 2) compare rhyme reading skill based on critical thinking and 3) find out the reading involvement of the upper secondary level students after using THAMNONG model with multimedia to promote rhyme reading skill based on critical thinking. 20 gifted students of Woranarichaloem School, Songkhla were used as a sample, and they were selected by simple random sampling method. The instruments used were 1) learning management THAMNONG model with multimedia, 2) 5 lesson plans named rhyme reading skill based on critical thinking, which was instructed for 27 hours, 3) rhyme reading skill based on critical thinking test which was multiple choice comprising 30 questions and 4 items each, 4) assessment form of rhyme reading skill based on critical thinking and 5) assessment form of reading involvement. The data were statistically analyzed using mean, standard deviation and a t-test for dependent samples and a t-test for one sample.The findings revealed that 1) THAMNONG model with multimedia has the highest appropriateness with mean () at 4.81 and the standard deviation (S.D) at 0.39. 2) Rhym reading skill after using THAMNONG model with multimedia was higher statistically significant at 0.01 level and 3) the reading involvement of the gifted upper secondary students after using THAMNONG model with multimedia was at the highest level with mean () at 4.58 and the standard deviation (S.D) at 0.64
