A Development of Chinese vocabulary memory skills by using vocabulary memory games as a medium for students in the Chinese Language Program, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Chiang Rai Rajabhat University

Abstract

This research article aims to evaluate the effectiveness of lesson plan using games as a medium of Chinese majors, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, and to compare their achievement in memorizing Chinese vocabularies before and after learning of student of Chinese language Program by using games as a medium. The population was composed of 8 third-year Chinese major students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, enrolling in Traditional Chinese Reading Course in the second semester of the 2020 academic year. The tools used in the research consisted of the lesson plan using games as a medium, and an achievement assessment form before and after learning by using games as a medium. For data analysis, Percentage, Mean, and Standard Deviation (S.D.) were employed. The research results revealed as follows: For the effectiveness of the learning management plan using games as a medium, it was found that the efficiency values (E1/E2) was 80.00 / 85.83, which was higher that the specified value (80/80). For the students’ learning achievement, it was shown that their achievement in vocabulary memorization after learning by using games was higher (S.D. = 17.80) and it was statistically significant at the 0.05 level.
