Abstract
In year nine, volume twenty-five we stand,
Still firm in pride of language, bold and grand.
A bridge of thoughts, of friendship we extend,
A stage where scholarly values transcend.
Journal of Variety in Language and Literature, Volume 9, Issue 1 (January–April 2025), marks the 25th issue in the journey of the academic network in language and culture. This issue is particularly diverse, featuring 14 articles in total. The contents can be categorized into three main groups:
The first group focused on language analysis, for instance: (1) An Ethnosemantic Analysis of Fish Terms in Khmer, (2) Characteristics of Illegal Language in Thai, (3) Linguistic Landscape in Public Signs of Government and Private Agencies along the Mekong River Bank Road in Nakhon Phanom Municipality, Nakhon Phanom Province, (4) An Analysis of the Language used in Restaurant and Café Signs in Mueang Chanthaburi District According to the Concept of Linguistic Landscape.
The second group focused on literary criticism, for instance: (5) The Female Character Presentation Strategies in Pongsakorn’s Detective Novels, (6)The Lanna women teachings value in the songs of Charal Manopech, (7) Postmodern Characteristics Appearing in Movie Entitled “Khun Phaen Begins”, (8) Content Analysis of the Documentary on the Tai Ethnic Group by Boonyong Ketthet.
The third group focused on language and communication, for instance: (9) Model of Teaching Thai Communicative Skill Using Selected Communicative Activities for foreign learner, (10) The Study of Thai Consonant Pronunciation in Communication by South Korean Youtubers Who Speak Thai as A Foreign Language, (11) Comparison of Thai communication results Between phonetic transliteration and the Roman transliteration method Using the conversation guide for foreigners, (12) The Use of Thai Learning Activity Package Based on Intertextuality Theory to Enhance the Creative Reading Abilities of Grade 3 Students, (13) Developing the Ability to Pronounce Diphthongs by Using Songs Combined with Graphic Diagram Techniques for Grade 6 Students, (14) Action Research to Develop Imaginative Writing Skills in Thai Language for Grade 4 Students using Mind Maps Combined with Skill Exercises
