GUIDELINES FOR COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN THE PREPARATION OF LOCAL CURRICULUM OF CHAIBURI NETWORK FOR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS UNDER SURATTHANI PRIMARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE 3

Abstract

     This research aimed to 1) study the condition of the local curriculum preparation, 2) study the guidelines for community participation in creating local curriculum, and 3) present the guidelines for community participation in creating local curriculum. This qualitative research obtained the key information using in-depth interviews with 15 stakeholders and five experts, including a group discussion with seven advisors. The tools used in this research were interview and focus group assessment forms.

The study showed the following results:

1. The condition of creating a local curriculum of educational institutions in the Chaiburi network was found to be developed every academic year with community participation to have a role in creating a local curriculum under the local context and the learner.

2. Community Participation Guidelines in the preparation of local curriculum consisted of (1) establishing a working group, 2) studying and analyzing basic information, 3) determining objectives, 4) analyzing content, 5) implementing curriculum, 6) Evaluating the use of the course, and 7) Making improvements to be used in the development of local curriculum every academic year. Local participation plays a role in developing and preparing the local curriculum, which consists of participation in decision-making, action, benefits, and evaluation.

3. The process of community participation in preparing the local curriculum was presented. The experts in focus group discussions believed this process was feasible, appropriate, and beneficial.
