Abstract

This research and development study aimed to 1) The situation, problem, and instructional needs regarding the use of SQL commands in compiling public health statistics. 2) Developing a web application for utilizing SQL commands in compiling public health statistics. 3) Evaluating the effectiveness of the web application's use of SQL commands in compiling public health statistics. The study was divided into 3 steps; 1) Studying the situation, problem, and instructional needs regarding the use of SQL commands in compiling public health statistics, involving 9 students and instructors, 2) Developing the web application for utilizing SQL commands in compiling public health statistics based on the results from Step 1 and expert reviews, 3) Studying the effectiveness of the web application, evaluating by 34 students before and after using the application. The research tool was a knowledge quiz and satisfaction assessment form with the content validity of .67 -1.00 and the reliability KR-20 of 0.80 and Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient 0.83. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Paired t-test. The results of this study were presented as follows. 1) The problem and instructional needs regarding the use of SQL commands in compiling public health statistics include complexity, requiring both SQL and public health knowledge. The instructional materials need to be engaging, clear, and practical. 2) The web application for using SQL commands in compiling public health statistics. Consists of 3 parts: 1) main page for entering the lesson 2) lessons 3) post-test. 3) After using the web application, there was a significant increase in scores (M=12.52, SD=2.67) compared to before (M=7.26, SD=2.21) at a significance level of p<.001. Satisfaction with the web application was high (M=4.22), particularly regarding content (M=4.31) and design (M=4.18). The research found that the web application effectively improved students' SQL command skills. It provides comprehensive content, easy navigation, and convenient access for learning and reviewing SQL lessons anytime, anywhere.
