The Effects of Using Davies’ Practical Skill Instructional Model Integrated with Multimedia to Enhance Practical Skills and Learning Achievement in Music on Recorder Performance for Grade 7 Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purposes of this research were: (1) to develop Grade 7 students’ practical skills in music, specifically recorder performance, through Davies’ psychomotor skill teaching model integrated with multimedia, with the criterion set at 70 percent of the total score; (2) to compare the learning achievement in music on recorder performance of Grade 7 students before and after learning through Davies’ psychomotor skill teaching model integrated with multimedia, based on the 70 percent achievement criterion; and (3) to investigate students’ satisfaction toward learning management using Davies’ psychomotor skill teaching model integrated with multimedia. The participants consisted of 25 Grade 7 students from Ban Huayrae School under the Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area Office 2 during the first semester of the 2025 academic year. The research instruments included: (1) lesson plans developed based on Davies’ psychomotor skill teaching model integrated with multimedia, (2) a learning achievement test, (3) a recorded performance practical skill assessment, and (4) a student satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using percentages, means, standard deviations, and a dependent-samples t-test. The results revealed that: (1) the students’ recorder performance and practical skills improved after the implementation of the instructional model. With a full score of 20 points, the posttest mean score was 15.97, equivalent to 79.84 percent, and all students (100 percent) met the criterion of 70 percent of the total score; (2) the students’ learning achievement in music on recorder performance after learning through Davies’ psychomotor skill teaching model integrated with multimedia had a mean score of 25.88, equivalent to 86.27 percent. All students achieved the criterion of 70 percent of the total score, with statistical significance at the .05 level; and (3) the overall student satisfaction toward learning management using Davies’ psychomotor skill teaching model integrated with multimedia was at the highest level.
