Guidelines for Administering Vocational Short Courses to Enhance Labor Skill Standards of Students Affiliated with Chian Mai Polytechnic College

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the state of management of short-term vocational courses for students at Chiang Mai Polytechnic College, and to develop and verify guidelines for managing short-term vocational courses to raise the skill standards of students at Chiang Mai Polytechnic College. The study was conducted in two stages: (1) studying the state of management of short-term vocational courses for students at Chiang Mai Polytechnic College, the target group used in the study totaled 32 people, and the research instrument was a questionnaire; (2) developing and verifying guidelines for managing short-term vocational courses to raise the skill standards of students at Chiang Mai Polytechnic College, the target group used was selected specifically, namely, 5 experts from outside the educational institution, and the research instrument was a quality checklist in three areas: accuracy, appropriateness, and feasibility. The results of the study found that: 1) the overall state of management of short-term vocational courses for students at Chiang Mai Polytechnic College was at a high level, ranked in order of average value from highest to lowest, namely, planning the use of the school curriculum, followed by the development of the school curriculum, the use of the school curriculum, the evaluation of the school curriculum, and the needs of the labor market and businesses, in that order; and 2) verifying the guidelines for managing short-term vocational courses to raise the skill standards of students at Chiang Mai Polytechnic College, the results of the verification of accuracy, appropriateness, and feasibility were at the highest level overall and passed all the criteria set.
