Abstract

This academic article aims to synthesize an approach to cross-course learning integration in a Master of Arts program in Music Education, drawing on a narrative review of relevant scholarship and critical reflection on the authors’ completed teaching and academic-service activities. The case connects three courses: Curriculum and Learning Management in Music, Seminar in Music Education, and Creative Music Composition for Music Education. Joint planning enabled students to integrate course-specific knowledge and outputs into a short-term music training curriculum, workshops, and creative music learning resources for teachers at kindergarten, primary, and secondary levels. In this article, “community” refers specifically to the participating teachers and their educational networks, rather than to a community-wide population. Drawing on curriculum integration, experiential learning, authentic learning, and community-related learning, the article proposes a six-stage conceptual framework, “From Classroom to Community.” Although the instructional activities were completed, the six-stage framework itself has not been independently validated or evaluated for effectiveness. It contributes a transferable design logic for connecting multiple courses with authentic professional practice while identifying areas that require further empirical investigation.
