Abstract

The purpose of this research and development were to 1) develop and verify the proactive learning management model on computer programming to foster mathematical thinking abilities of students at Rattanaburi Technical College Surin Provincial Vocational Education Office based on the criteria set of 80/80 2) study academic achievement, 3) compare mathematical thinking ability scores and 4) study students’ satisfaction towards learning management model. Sample the instruments used in this research were 34 vocational certificate students in the 2nd year who were obtained by cluster random sampling. Tools used in collecting data were academic achievement test, mathematical thinking ability evaluation, and satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test dependent statistics. The results of the research were: 1) active learning management model on computer programming to promote computational thinking ability consisted of 5 steps: (1) creating inspiration in the mind to learn, (2) deciding to work, (3) practicing, (4) learning results, and (5) stage of publishing work. The effectiveness of the active learning management model developed was 84.65/89.41, 2) students had higher learning achievement after learning than before learning at a statistical significance at the .05 level. 3) students had a score for their ability to think in numeracy after learning that was higher than or equal to the specified criterion of 80 percent. 4) students were satisfied with the proactive learning management style at statistical significance at the .05 level.  The overall result was at high level, and 4) students’ satisfaction towards the learning model was at high level.
