The Development of Thai Singing Skills with Karaoke Learning Media: A Case Study of Thai Music Student, Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts

Abstract

This research was conducted with the following objectives: 1) to develop Thai singing skills through the creation of karaoke learning media, specifically for students in the Thai Classical Vocal Music department at Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts; 2) to evaluate the efficiency of the karaoke learning media in Thai classical music instruction based on the established 80/80 efficiency criteria; and 3) to study student satisfaction toward the developed karaoke media. The researcher employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology. The research instruments included Thai singing skill practice documents, lesson plans, and instructional videos for six Thai songs. The research findings revealed that the efficiency evaluation of the karaoke learning media yielded an average formative score (E1) of 84.54% and an average summative score (E2) of 86.67%. These results exceeded the predefined criteria of 80/80. Regarding student satisfaction, the overall assessment across all aspects showed that the highest-rated item was the appropriateness of the content relative to the study duration, with a mean score of 4.90. The lowest-rated item was the appropriateness of the karaoke font size and clarity, with a mean score of 4.50. These results demonstrate that the experimental timeframe established by the researcher was appropriately defined.
