CURRICULUM-INTERNSHIP ALIGNMENT IN THE POST-COVID ERA: A CASE STUDY OF THE FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES, PRINCE OF SONGKLA UNIVERSITY

Abstract
The study aims to 1) To study on the types of internship positions undertaken by students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prince of Songkla University, during the years B.E. 2565 - 2568 in the post-COVID-19 period, and 2) To analyze the alignment between the students' academic programs and their assigned internship positions in the post-COVID-19 period. The study employed purposive sampling from a population of 614 undergraduate students of the faculty who participated in internships during the specified period. The sample consisted of students who completed their internships according to the curriculum requirements and had complete and accurate data. The research instrument was the internship record form from the cooperative education and internship system for the years B.E. 2565 - 2568. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentages and year and program-based comparisons.
Job characteristics categorized internship positions. The findings revealed that students undertook internships in 10 main types of positions. The three most popular were administration, documentation, and office work, accounting for 25.24%. General coordination and assistant roles accounted for 19.71%, while service-related positions in tourism, hospitality, and food and beverage made up 12.70%. Moreover, the study found that 98.05% of the students completed their internships in positions aligned with their academic curriculum. This indicates the effectiveness of the internship management system in supporting program-specific competencies and meeting employer needs. Recommendations include the developing a matching system between students and organizations, promoting specialized professional internships such as analytical or international communication roles, and regularly monitoring and evaluating the alignment between job positions and academic curricula.
