AN ANALYSIS OF PROBLEMS, CONTEXTS, AND NEEDS OF STAKEHOLDERS REGARDING FINANCIAL LITERACY PROMOTION FOR PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research article aimed to 1) Analyze the problems, contexts, and needs of each stakeholder group, and 2) Synthesize the shared consensus and divergent perspectives across groups, regarding the promotion of financial literacy for pre-service teachers at the Faculty of Education and Educational Innovation, Kalasin University. The study employed a qualitative research methodology. The informants comprised three groups totaling 45 participants, selected through purposive sampling: 5 faculty administrators, 8 instructors and academic advisors with at least 3 years of teaching experience, and 32 third- and fourth-year pre-service teachers who were preparing for their professional practicum. The research instrument was a focus group discussion guide covering three dimensions: problem-related, context-related, and needs-related issues, which was reviewed for appropriateness prior to use. Data were collected through focus group discussions conducted separately for each stakeholder group, with the administrator and instructor groups in face-to-face sessions, while the student group engaged in two rounds through both face-to-face and online sessions. The data were analyzed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis integrated with Framework Analysis. The findings revealed 9 core themes across 2 levels of consensus: 5 themes shared across all three groups, including 1) Curriculum structure and content limitations, 2) Integration into the teaching profession context and practical application, 3) Student motivation and engagement, 4) Financial knowledge and skill needs, and 5) Flexible support strategies; and 4 themes shared between only two groups, namely 1) Resource and personnel constraints, 2) Impact on graduate quality and institutional image, 3) Family and social factors as obstacles, and 4) Negative prior experiences with financial education. These findings provide essential information for designing co-curricular activities within the context of teacher education institutions.
