Abstract
Research on Ta-Kad Pattern Woven Fabric Wisdom and Creative Development: A Case Study of Koh Yo Community, Mueang District, Songkhla Province. This research article is part of a Doctor of Philosophy program in Cultural Studies. This research article a qualitative research methodology and Participatory action research (PAR). Data were collected through observation and interviews with key informants selected by purposive sampling, as well as respondents selected through simple random sampling. The research instruments consisted of interview forms and questionnaires that were validated for content validity by experts and pilot-tested to assess the clarity of the questions and the reliability of the instruments prior to data collection. Qualitative data were analysed using content analysis, while quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics, including frequency distribution and mean values. The findings revealed the Ta-kad pattern woven fabric (fishing-net motif) of Koh Yo Community represents valuable local wisdom with distinctive cultural identity and uniqueness. This traditional textile can be further developed into contemporary fashion products. The developed fashion products included evening gowns, work dresses, and casual wear, with consumers showing the greatest preference for casual wear. Both experts and consumers agreed that the products should be modern, practical for everyday use, and reasonably priced. The key factors influencing purchasing decisions were fabric quality, price, and product design. Furthermore, the study indicated that the development of woven-fabric products should emphasise designs that integrate traditional identity with contemporary concepts, increase colour variety, and create compelling product narratives. These strategies can enhance product value and attractiveness in the marketplace, thereby contributing to economic value creation and the sustainable preservation of local wisdom.
