SYNTHESIS OF COMPETENCIES IN THE MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGY MAJOR CURRICULUM BASED ON DESIRED EDUCATIONAL OUTCOME FRAMEWORK

Abstract

This research aims to synthesize the competencies of the Multimedia Technology Major curriculum based on the Desired Educational Outcome framework. This is a qualitative study utilizing document analysis and in-depth interviews obtained through 10 experts, consisting of academics specializing in multimedia technology and multimedia technology professionals. The research instruments include document analysis and an in-depth interview guide. The findings reveal that the competencies as follows: 1) Learner person: Knowledge competencies, include using digital devices and tools to create multimedia, designing multimedia projects related to content, basic programming, English, marketing, and legal knowledge. Skill competencies, include self-directed learning, lifelong learning, language and communication skills, and presentation skills. Attribute competencies, include a passion for learning, commitment to work, and self-responsibility. 2) Co-innovator: Knowledge competencies, include the application of digital devices and multimedia creation tools, cross-disciplinary integration, design thinking, and innovative thinking. Skill competencies, include creativity, analytical thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Attribute competencies, include imagination, a focus on innovation, inspiration, and technological awareness. 3) Active Citizen: Knowledge competencies, include media literacy and understanding of the ethics of multimedia technologists. Skill competencies, include teamwork. Attribute competencies, include adaptability, flexibility, enthusiasm, honesty, punctuality, a volunteer mind, responsibility in society, and a public mind.
