IMPARTING THE MURAL PAINTINGS OF WAT PHO CHAI NA PHUENG THROUGH GRAPHIC ARTS FOR PRESERVATION AND DISSEMINATION

Abstract

This research article aims to: 1) To develop a model for imparting the mural paintings of Wat Pho Chai Na Phueng through graphic arts for preservation and dissemination, and 2) To Impart the artistic and cultural knowledge embedded in the mural paintings of Wat Pho Chai Na Phueng through graphic arts. The study employed a mixed-methods research design in exploratory sequential design, integrating both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Key informants included: 1) Five purposively selected experts, and 2) A purposive sample of 56 participants in learning activity modules. Research instruments comprised: 1) Document analysis forms, 2) In-Depth interview guides, 3) A set of learning activities, and 4) A Satisfaction questionnaire. Qualitative data were collected through expert interviews to develop a model for imparting the mural paintings of Wat Pho Chai Na Phueng through graphic arts. Based on these findings, the series of learning activity modules was designed. Quantitative data were collected by implementing the series of learning activity modules with the sample group. The statistics used in the study included percentage, frequency, mean, and standard deviation, with descriptive analysis. The research findings revealed that: 1) The developed model for transmitting the mural paintings of Wat Pho Chai Na Phueng through printmaking art for conservation and dissemination consisted of 3 steps: study, reflection, and creation, with an emphasis on creating learning experiences; and 2) The results of knowledge imparting showed that 71.42% of participants achieved an evaluation score at a very good level. Overall satisfaction with the activities was at the highest level, indicating enhanced awareness and appreciation of the cultural value of the mural paintings at Wat Pho Chai Na Phueng.
