“Maharaj Bhumibol” Music composition for paying a farewell to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej

Abstract

The background of music composition “Maharaj Bhumibol” was derived from that of Burapha University realized the most grateful for your Majesty’s boundless and gracious kindness in His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s era. His Majesty the late king passed away on October 13, 2016. All Thai people expressed the grief for HM the late King’ passing. In this regard, Burapha University thought of organizing an event for paying a farewell to HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The faculty of Music and Performing Arts had been assigned to organize this event under the title “หนึ่งศิลป์หนึ่งชีวี บรรเลงถวายไท สำนึกในพระมหากรุณาธิคุณ (Mourning Ceremony for HM the late King)” on Nov 9, 2016 at Lan Dhamma, Burapha University. From this event, the concept of music composition “Maharaj Bhumibol” was taken place by creating melody and combining lyrics and melody to formulate the form of music composition. This music composition was divided into introduction, verse 1, verse 2, chorus, verse 3, chorus, bridge, solo, and chorus. This music composition was arranged for performing by Burapha Wind Symphony and Burapha Chorus. The composer created lyrics in accordance with harmony, arranged for wind symphony orchestra. Most of the chord’ structures were primary chord. The form was popular music. The texture of music was homophony, key signature’s change in bridge and chorus, various music instrument’s tone color for successful completeness of the requirement of composer.
