This academic paper presents the idea and process of creating a stage set by using a performing arts research written by a student titled “Kitchen’s Monologue” which results were analyzed and discussed the solution of creating and design problems. The main idea of conceptual design is “A man who can stably stand by himself in any situations” under the theme “A perfect life might be imperfect”. The study shows that the students cannot use the symbol well to create the scene and communicate with audience. The design of symbolic set in the realism theatre for analyzing and solve the problems needs 4 steps: play analysis; play scene analysis; stage scene analysis for making a realist scene; and
select the symbolic image from the process of play scene analysis step. The creator reduced the unnecessary details which affect the characters and spaces involving the audience communication by using the pictures of art or the pictures that designer and director could understand in the same direction to create through the ideas and objectives.
