Creation of Contemporary Thai Likay from Foreign Plays
Abstract
This article presents intercultural theatre on Thai contemporary performance, the collaboration between a traditional popular theatre-likay and three classic and renowned
plays from Germany, France and Japan; LikayFaust, The Island of Slaves and Red Demon are examined respectively. Discussion of strong and weak paints of creating this kind of
performance is included, providing essential elements for further productions by contemporary academics and practitioners.
