An Analysis Composition on Charlie Parker’s Donna Lee

Abstract

This article present the analysis composition on Charlie Parker’s Donna lee concentrating on area of melody composing and  chord  progression. Results showed that melody composing that use of a note from Chord tone of each chord, An approach to target note that use chromatic Approach and enclosure as mainly. In term of chord progression, use of ii-V-I progression as mainly and use of secondary dominant chord to resolve to another chord. As above mentioned this song is indicative of Bebop characteristic.
