Ballet Curriculum in current view of Modern Society in Thailand

Abstract

In the modern day, Thai social has been changed by absorbing the western culture, Because of this reason, the urban people are living under competitive and limited condition, in terms of being individual, choose the career path, etc. Ballet is one of the western dance style that has been accepted and popular in the urban social around the world, likewise, there are varies value, career and attitude about this academic.

In Present ,We have found a lot of the International ballet curriculums which has been teaching in thailand such as The Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (C.S.T.D), The Australian Teachers of Dancing  (A.T.O.D ) The Russian Ballet Society (R.B.S) The Australian Dance Association (A.D.A) and Ballet curriculums in Universities.

 Most of the ballet academy in Thailand focus on teaching with The Royal Academy of Dance curriculum from England (R.A.D) which is the international standard model, such as physical development, Learning art, music and performing art, and the sociability, and it has been more popular among the Thai parents.

Even though, The Ballet curriculum in Thailand has been focused in professional trainning and most of quality dancers in Thailand has been trained by this curriculum. Although, but there is not any professional dance company which is supported by government and private firm which cause the reduction of the dancer capability, would probably be restricted in the educational system only or It also has been implemented to other courses or subjects.

This article provide the values of learning and teaching ballet, Ballet  curriculum in Thailand, including the knowledge, background, evolution of learning and teaching ballet in Thailand. Also the aspect or comments in order to develop this art in the future which can be compare or refer to the other performing arts.
