The principles of being pit musician in musical theatre.

Abstract

The main purpose of this article was to guide and inform musicians and others who been interested in playing in pit orchestra or musical theatre. The authors have researched and participated in many performances for
collecting information and interviewing some experts who’s involve in musical production such as conductors, musicians and musical directors to make the conclusion for a preparation which can help other musicians to learn and prepare themselves before their audition or their performance. The conclusion was divided to 5 sections, starts with “Always do your homework” and “Be a good musician”. “Be patient and disciplined” are the third which are one of the most important things that musicians need. “Prepare for a sub” or “Substitution needed” is the fourth section, this will be a very important thing for a very long period performance. The final section of the principles, “Be ready for all circumstances” or “
Be awareness”, is a fine habit for not only pit musician but all musicians. There’re still other things that could be important for musical performance, but it’s up to different skilled musicians, level of the orchestra and various kind of the performances.
