Abstract

Singing toward the Khon performance requirement has both the Ton Siang (Precentor) and the Look Koo (Refrain). Ton Siang performed the vocals on the beginning of the script and solo sang until the end of the phrase. As for the Look Koo, they continue to sing for the second phrase. The Ton Siang must sing accurately in the lyrics and melody. The melody of the vocals that tuned with the sound of the instrument and necessity express the emotions into the words to concordance the emotional inflection of the actors as well.
The Khon singing from a “Phra Ram Tam Kwang” (Rama followed the deer). The Ton Siang must conduct the meaning and express the emotions of the characters. The singing of “Kaek Sai” song, the singer, must sing to be meaningful the purpose of the deer’s beauty. And the “Ta Lae Ba” song (fanatic sea), the singer must sing to impart meaning and emotion.
