This research was a qualitative musicological research. The objective of the study was to study the culture of music and indigenous living in eastern region: a case study of beggar song, Bantungkaidung ensemble, Trat province.
The results revealed that the ensemble of beggar song, Bantungkaidug ensemble, had belonged to Thai Chong who descended from Chong. They had lived in Bantungkaidug, Tha Kum, Mung, Trat province. The beggar song had been ingerited continuously from their ancestors. Nowadays Mrs. Orn Sulhang inherited the ensemble from her parents but still no inheritance. The characteristics of beggar song, Bantungkaidug ensemble was to sing only in religious ceremony of Songkran festival, not for earning a living. The identity of song derived from the specialty of the remembered melody, especially the bowel migration. The melody which emphasized this style in the last duration was different from other
companies whose the last duration were shorter. It was essential to remember the style of bowel migration precisely because there was no record. The lyrics were remembered and recorded for transmitting from generation to generation. For the role of music and indigenous living,
