The purpose of this qualitative research in musicological aspect was to study the Culture of Music and Indigenous living in eastern region: A Case study of Rum Suad, Anek Sarnnetra troupe, Trat Province.
The results revealed that in the history of Rum Suad, Anek Sarnnetra troupe, Trat Province, Mr. Anek Sarnnetra had begun to perform Rum Suad in 2503. He started from conservative Rum Suad which used the content of Pra Malai chanting. Then, the contents of old folk were applied to be lyrics, called modified Rum Suad. The important instruments were drums (major instrument), cymbals and grabs. The musicians would sing as a chorus during performing. The identical pattern of the performance begins with the scripture to pay respect to the Buddha, the Buddha’s teachings, back to chorus (Rong soi), pay respect teacher, parents and ends with “Sung Pert” song. After that, the song would be continued by using the folk. The major characteristics of the performance of Rum Suad, Anek Sarnnetra troupe was a modified Rum Suad which applied the folk to entertain people who participated in the funeral. This was the original of this troupe, did not use Thai folk song or modern song. These identity and values of the culture of music should be preserved continually.
