The Royal Project of Music Voluntaries, Chiangmai – Strengthening the community with music. The objective of this article is to demonstrate the origin, process and activities of the Royal Project of Music Voluntaries. The information around the program origin is discussed along with how the King Rama X’s guidance has become a streamline of its main practices. The program’ activities help develop the community where it sits and extend the support to the young and disadvantaged people. For those lacking opportunities to learn music, this can provide future possibilities in music career without any financial, social and ethnic limitations. All activities are voluntarily run and participated by the program’s members. The program has also received excellent supports from many institutes and individuals, including the practice venue, instruments as well as the musical expertise for the band. Some of the individual experts are university lecturers, music students, professional musicians and government officials. The Royal Project of Music Voluntaries has therefore been formed with the intent that ‘we do good deed with our hearts’. As such, the project is originated not only because of the voluntaries of all members but also their willingness to share, making Chiangmai a sustainable quality and happy community.
