“Overseas Adventure Travel” for Jazz Orchestra: A Creative Research in Music Composition and Orchestration

Abstract

“Overseas Adventure Travel” for Jazz Orchestra is a composition in a contemporary jazz style — a synergy between jazz, classical and contemporary music. This composition is dedicated to the memory of “Oat” Vittavat Khotavivattana, the rising star Thai jazz bassist, who died from a car accident at a young age. The composer first composed this piece for a small jazz ensemble and later orchestrated for a jazz orchestra. The composition utilizes a combination of various concepts and techniques. The piece has been performed internationally and is published by Jazz Education Abroad.
