Abstract

The creation of traditional dance from the historical evidence called archaeological dance was created in 1967 by Mr. Thanit Yupho, a former director-general Fine Arts Department who created 5-performances of archaeological dances consists of Dvaravati dance, Srivijaya dance, Lopburi dance, Chiang Saen dance, and Sukhothai dance which were inspired by the historical evidence such as paintings, sculptures, and bas-relief from the archaeological sites, antiques from various periods which found in Thailand and neighbor countries. Therefore, the dances were created. The archaeological dances were created through the elaborate process with a flawless artistic style. It used the information of archaeological and historical research with the imagination of the creator. It was divided into 4 parts including 1) Historical evidence, archaeological site, antiquities, textbook, and field research. 2) The newly created dance posture and dance design patterns 3) Costume design for creating a unique style of each era 4) Musical composition and creation of musical instruments according to the information. Thus, these were important factors used in the creation of traditional dance from the historical evidence in the following time as a model.
