MUSIC COMPOSITION “CLARINET EVOLUTION” FOR CLARINET AND COMPUTER MUSIC

Abstract

This research article aimed to study music composition techniques and methods for clarinet and computer music, including the presentation of Clarinet Evolution composition concepts for clarinet and music computers. The research used qualitative research
methodology, collected the document data, and interviewed experts in music composition and electronic music. The study revealed that Clarinet Evolution was a piece of contemporary music using the computer to create sound accompanied by the clarinet. Three steps of the composition consist of 1) creating the clarinet main melody 2) selecting clarinet techniques and 3) composing the computer musical line. The composition used suitable clarinet techniques including Overtone Glissandi, Flutter Tonguing, Slap Tonguing, Air Sound, Teeth Tone, and Key Clicks. The computer program was used to create synthesizer sounds by using music transducer tools including Filter Effect, Delay & Echo Effect, Reverberation Effect, and Modulation Effect. As a new musical composition created a worldwide composition of music for the clarinet, it was also a new manner of presenting music that combined nature and synthesizer sounds.
