THE CREATION OF NEW MATERIALS FOR TEACHING THAI MUSIC

This research was aimed at the creation and testing of notation exercises to beused in the teaching of Thai music. There were ten student volunteers, all of whom had passed two courses in the undergraduate music program of Payap University, Chiang Mai, Thailand: “Thai Music” (MUG 202) and “Reading, Listening, and Writing 1” (MUA 103). The research was conducted by the author from March 1 to March 30, 2021, during which period the author taught a total of 9 classes. The teaching materials usedwere a teacher’s guide and a lesson book. The hypothesis of this research was the average score higher than 80/80.
The results of the research were analyzed and evaluated by percentage and mean, comparing the students’ scores before and after using the teaching package. An average score of 88.88/81.19 met the set standard, thereby confirming the author’s hypothesis.
