A STUDY ON FILM PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT DURING NON-NORMAL CIRCUMATANCES, CASE STUDY: FILM PRODUCTION DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract

     The management of film production units is a crucial process in the filmmaking and media industry, which utilizes storytelling through both visuals and sound. When unforeseen events occur, managing the film production unit becomes even more critical in ensuring the completion of shooting activities in a thorough and safe manner for the working personnel. Researchers have studied international guidelines and measures for filmmaking based on online news articles published between April and June 2020. The study includes cases from Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Iceland, and Australia.

     The research identifies two key aspects in film production management: 1. Pre-Production Period: Disease Prevention Measures During the pre-production period, it was found that Thailand's guidelines lacked in terms of taking care of the physical and mental health of the production team. 2. Production Period: Practical Guidelines In the production period, Thailand's practices were found to lack detailed guidelines for ethical practices and also lacked an approach towards incorporating technology in filmmaking. A case study from the United States highlighted the implementation of versatile production practices, including virtual production techniques, to reduce the risk of disease transmission during travel and alleviate constraints in filmmaking. In summary, the research emphasizes the importance of addressing health and well-being concerns during the pre-production phase and enhancing ethical practices and technology integration during the production phase in film production management.
