THE INNOVATION OF MUSIC COMPOSITION FOR SOUTHERN IDENTITY ENCHANTMENT : PERAHU-KOLEK FOR CHORUS

Abstract

The Innovation of Music Composition For Southern Identity Enchantment : Perahu-Kolek For Chorus is creative research. The objective is to 1) compose the music that is inspired by Kolek boats and to 2) present the form of Chorus music composition that has southern local style and accent.

This music composition inspired by the beauty of the Kolek boats and identity that reflects the stories and way of life of southern communities. The creation of musical compositions uses the local southern cultural capital to expand the creativity in the form of Western music that combines with southern folk music. The innovation of this research is to apply songs, southern local language, rhythms and southern folk instruments, Ronggeng to blend in with the creation of choral singing with southern local rhythms and accents which comprises of 3 songs. The first one is Perahu-Kolek which is in the G major and Ab major scale, a tempo of 60-68 and a time signature of 2/4. The second one is Aesthetic Value which is in the C major scale, a tempo of 60, a time signature of 4/4, and the third one is I-nang Seafood which is in the B minor scale and uses a tempo of 72 and has a time signature of 2/4. The total length of all three songs is approximately 15 minutes.
