THE CHOREOGRAPHIC CREATION OF THE HARMONY OF ASEAN+3 DANCE

Abstract

This article discusses the creation of The Harmony of ASEAN+3 dance, which aims to present the creative process based on traditional Thai dance. The performance showcases the cultural identities of each country in the ASEAN and ASEAN+3 regions, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, China, Japan, and South Korea. The study involves data collection through interviews and relevant documents on ASEAN cultural arts. The gathered information is then reviewed through a literature review and lesson analysis to establish a conceptual framework for the performance. The creation process integrates traditional Thai dance movements, national costumes, and symbolic body expressions unique to each country.
