The Guideline for Development of habits of drug prisoners in Udonthani central prison

Abstract
The objectives of this research were 1) to study the expected condition and the reality of developing the habit, 2) to find the guideline for developing a habit, and 3) to evaluate the guideline for developing the habit of drug prisoners in Udonthani Central Prison. The research was divided into 3 sections which are duration 1 is the study of the present and the need for developing the habit of drug prisoners. The questionnaire was applied as a tool. Statistics for data analysis used the computer program. The samples are 350 drug prisoners in Udonthani Central Prison which their cases have been rendered at finality. In addition, the focus group was arranged to talk with the target group which included 2 prison officers and 8 drug prisoners who have good behaviors, as a mean for content analysis. In duration 2, to find the guideline of habit development by arranging the workshop with the target group which included 2 former prisoners who are successful in living after the release, 3 volunteers from Primary Health Care, 4 community leaders or the relatives of the former prisoners, 5 Udonthani Central Prison Officers, 2 educational personnel, and 8 representatives of the drug prisoners who assist the prison officers, totaling 24 persons, to select the guideline. In duration 3, the evaluation of habit development, the target group is the same group in the duration 2, using the evaluation of habit development of drug prisoners which would be analyzed by the computer program.
According to the research, the findings are as follows:
1. The expected condition and the reality of developing the habit of drug prisoners in UdonThani Central Prison can be divided into 4 aspects which are (1) educational management (2) career learning (3) mental development (4) welfare and entertainment management. The mean of the needs assessment have PNI modified between 0.16-0.60 as follows: 1. welfare and entertainment management (PNI modified = 0.60), 2. Career learning (PNI modified = 0.46), 3. Educational development (PNI modified = 0.28), and 4. Mental development (PNI modified =0.16).
2. The guideline of developing a habit of drug prisoners is priority regarded as follows: 1) welfare and entertainment management is the visit of relatives for excellent prisoners once a year, the ambiance of the boarding school, and daily sport arrangement. 2) Career learning is to train their skills regarding their interest, train agricultural skill, and to train other skills that are on demand of the labor market and the enterprises. 3) Educational management is to provide e-learning through television which depends on their interest and all prisoners must complete the learning course. 4) Mental development is the Buddhist learning, grouping the prisoners in regards to the type of cases, the radio broadcast, and personality development.
3. The evaluation of the possibility and the suitability of the guideline for the development of habits of drug prisoners in Udonthani Central Prison are as follows: the most possible and suitable aspects are the mental development and secondly the educational management. The lowest possible and suitable aspect is career learning. Meanwhile, welfare and entertainment management are at a high level.
