The Knowledge Management for Inherit of Banana Stalk Carving Art In the Learning Area of Thai Phuan Ban Phue Museum Udon Thani Province

Abstract

This research article aimed: 1) to study and collect knowledge of the local wisdom of the banana stalk carving art of the Thai Phuan ethnic group, Ban Phue District. Udon Thani Province in the form of databases and learning media, and 2) to bring knowledge of the local wisdom of the banana stalk carving art of the Thai Phuan ethnic group that has been systematized and applied as an activity to disseminate and continue in the local community. This research employed qualitative research methods by in-depth interview with 1 local philosopher to extract knowledge from the individual. And the action research process was used: Organizing a workshop to disseminate knowledge and skills in the art of betting to those interested, 1 time. The tools used to collect data were a semi-structured interview form, practice skills assessment form and satisfaction assessment form for utilization. The analysis uses the concept of the SECI Knowledge Management model (SECI). The research results found that there is a management of knowledge of the banana stalk carving art, starting with the extraction. “Tacit knowledge” to “Explicit knowledge” in the form of databases and learning media including brochures, exhibition signs and electronic book manual (e-book). After that, organizing training workshop to integrate knowledge back into the individual was used, there were 66 people participating in the activity. This organizing training workshop had persons who passed the practice skills assessment accounted for 87.88 percent and had the highest level of average utilization satisfaction assessment (4.27). An important way to bring knowledge forward is to create community products based on cultural capital.
