A Creative Work, Thang Diew Sawdung in Raratee Samchan

Abstract

This research on the composition of a solo piece for the Thai fiddle, “Saratee Sam Chan,” aims to compose and analyze this solo piece through qualitative research. The findings indicate that the solo piece “Saratee Sam Chan” has three sections: Section 1 has four rhythmic patterns, Section 2 has four patterns, and Section 3 has five patterns. The melody comprises three scales: The Pyeong-Obon Group, Klang Group, and Java Group. The researcher has identified melodic forms, musical structures, and vocal groups that serve as excellent exercises for understanding the solo fiddle composition style, encompassing “Oat” patterns and “Phan” patterns The researcher added special techniques that would be useful for practice and incorporated unique performance techniques such as spacing. The researcher composed these pieces focusing on special techniques while considering their suitability to the main melody of the song “Saratee Samchan”.
